The questions keep piling up as quickly as the losses for the embattled Rutgers football team

It was expected but still painful to watch.  A fourth loss in five games for the slumping Rutgers football team.  A 41-17 loss at 17th-ranked UCF Thursday night which saw the non-existent Scarlet Knight defense give up a ton of points again.  In the four defeats, RU has been outscored by American Athletic Conference opponents 166-58.  As the losses mount, so do the questions:

---Even though it's a relatively young defense, how did it get so embarrassingly inept?

---Is it unfathomable to think that Rutgers can lose its last two games at winless Connecticut and home to USF to fall short of bowl eligibility or have things gotten that bad?

---How difficult will it be for head coach Kyle Flood to fire his defensive coordinator...and friend Dave Cohen?  Or will that move be made by new athletic director Julie Hermann?

---How can Rutgers go into the Big Ten next season with the ineffective Gary Nova at quarterback.  Or will he still be the starter because there's no one else?

---Will more recruits decommit as the program continues to tumble?

---Is the clock now running out on Flood's time as RU head coach?

An unthinkable loss at UConn next Saturday will make this list even longer as the Scarlet Knight program falls deeper into the abyss with the move into the Big Ten looming right around the corner.

If I'm a recruit I'm also watching the introduction of the New England Patriot defense during SNF and the final three players being from Rutgers. It was later added during the game that the strength of the two Rutgers rookies were their intelligence - later exemplified by the outstanding interception by Logan Ryan. It was none other than Peyton Manning that he "outthought".
