Could be a long night for Rutgers in Cali
Posted 8/29/2013 5:02:00 PM

Here we go!  The 2013 Rutgers football season begins tonite in California; the Scarlet Knights' last season before entering the Big Ten in 2014.  R-U opens up at Fresno State as a ten-point underdog and I, for one, am not optimistic.  Both teams are coming off 9-4 seasons with co-championships in their respective leagues---Rutgers in the old Big East and the Bulldogs in the Mountain West Conference.  But Fresno State is favored tonight in part because of the home-field advantage in hot conditions at kick-off time and, in large part, because of their outstanding quarterback Derek Carr, the younger brother of Giants' back-up David Carr.  Derek will clearly have the edge over R-U's up-and-down quarterback Gary Nova.  Couple that with a revamped Scarlet Knight defense having to debut against a top-caliber q-b like Carr...and I don't see a Scarlet Knight win tonight.  I'm picking Fresno State to cover the spread and win 31-17.   Nonetheless, we'll have all the exciting action on the new talk radio, 1450 WCTC, the Voice of Rutgers Football.  Our pre-game show "Rutgers Gameday" begins at nine-pm; kick-off in Fresno is 10:30 Eastern time.

They had it to win. Too many errors but still like them. Really waiting for women's basketball to start. They seem to be keeping a real low profile eeh Vivian!
