Not all is lost for the Rutgers football team along the Three Rivers

Saturday afternoon was a long day in the Steel City for the 21st-ranked Rutgers football team but, thanks to UConn, the Scarlet Knights head back to New Jersey with at least a share of their first-ever Big East title. RU lost at Pittsburgh 27-6 in a game heard on the new talk radio, 1450 WCTC and WCTCAM.com, the Voice of the Scarlet Knights. But about a half-hour later, the Huskies pulled off an upset, winning at Louisville 23-20 in triple overtime. All that means that Rutgers is 5-1 in the Big East, a game ahead of the Cardinals with one contest left, that being this Thursday night in Piscataway against the U of L. IF RU wins, then the Scarlet Knights clinch their first OUTRIGHT Big East championship. BUT, if they LOSE, they fall back into at least a three-way tie for first place with Louisville and Syracuse...and possibly a four-way tie if Cincinnati wins its regular season finale at Connecticut next Saturday. And that's where the rub lies for Rutgers because the league crown AND the BCS bowl berth goes to the team with the highest ranking in the BCS and it's no guarantee right now that that would be the Scarlet Knights. Fasten your seat belt and hope that Rutgers rebounds off its worst showing of the season to beat Louisville at home for the most historic win in school history.
