Look for Rutgers to bounce back against the Cadets

We'll find out something about new Rutgers head football coach Kyle Flood when his 24th-ranked Scarlet Knights come off their first bye week of the season after their first loss of the season, hosting Army Saturday afternoon.  They were simply awful two weeks ago in their Homecoming defeat at the ends of Kent State.  Flood has spent the time since then getting his team's collective head straight, restoring confidence, keeping them sharp during the downtime and preparing them for a pesky Army squad.  The Cadets aren't very good at 2-7 but they are coming off an upset win over Air Force and lead the nation in rushing, thanks to the likes of quarterback Trent Steelman and running back Ray Maples.  However, the Army defense is porous which brings us to the key Rutgers individual in this game---sophomore quarterback Gary Nova who threw a career-high six interceptions against Kent State.  That's Flood's key reclamation project during the bye week.  Can he get Nova back on track and playing like the qb who has won two Big East Player of the Week awards.  Flood has to if he wants the Scarlet Knights to remain in contention for their first Big East title.  All in all, I'm saying the Flood gets the job done and Rutgers beats Army 35-21.  Coverage on the new talk radio, 1450 WCTC and WCTCAM.com, the Voice of Rutgers Football, begins at 9:30 with Mike Pavlichko on the Tailgate Party live outside the North Gate of High Point Solutions Stadium in Piscataway.
