The Rutgers football team will remain undefeated in a "Back To The Future" game in Philadelphia

Back in 2004, then-Rutgers University Athletic Director Bob Mulcahy was one of the instigators behind the move to dump the then-inferior Temple football program from the Big East. Eight years later, with Mulcahy gone along with a number of defecting high-profile schools, the "new" Big East filled a void by going back to Philadelphia to ask the Owls to come back into the conference. With all that as a back drop, the undefeated and 19th-ranked Scarlet Knights put their perfect record and league-leading status on the line Saturday afternoon when they venture to Lincoln FInancial Field to play much-improved Temple. RU is 6-0 overall at the midway point of the season, 3-0 in the Big East. The Owls are 3-2 overall and 2-0 in league. So, a Temple win would catapult the Owls into first place. The Scarlet come in as a five-and-a-half-point favorites but it will be tough go. The Owls are coming off an overtime victory over Connecticut last Saturday and head coach Steve Addazio certainly will use the Big East back story as "bulletin board" material. But I look for Rutgers to prevail, eking out a 21-17 win. Kickoff is noon; you can hear the game on the new talk radio, 1450 WCTC and WCTCAM.com, the Voice of the Scarlet Knights, beginning at 10:30 with our pre-game show "Rutgers Gameday."
