Sports and News
For over a decade, Mike Pavlichko has been a full-time member of the WCTC News Team, following a summer internship at Broadcast Center while attending Rutgers University and leading the sports department at WRSU. Mike has done just about everything imaginable in news, sports and beyond. He’s covered presidential visits, was part of WCTC’s award-winning 9-11 Coverage, reported from a mail facility in Carteret where anthrax-laced letters passed through later that fall, and traveled to Cleveland to cover the Rutgers women’s basketball team’s NCAA title game appearance in 2007. He’s also reported on mayhem from police shootings, to oil tanker explosions, to a hostage standoff in New Brunswick. He’s been a news anchor on every shift from mornings to mid-days to late night, and when not producing the Jack Ellery morning show, continues to work on uncovering and reporting on the big news stories that affect Central Jersey, whether it’s ongoing redevelopment in New Brunswick, how local budgets will affect taxpayers, or a Governor Christie town hall meeting.
On the sports side, he served for four seasons as Bruce Johnson’s back-up on Rutgers women’s basketball play-by-play, and the 2011-12 high school season will be his 12th in the booth. He also is the lead host and executive producer of Football USA, WCTC’s award-wining football scoreboard/interview show covering Rutgers, college, and Central Jersey high school football every Saturday during the season. Add that to pre-game and Tailgate Party duties before Rutgers home games, and it makes for very busy Saturdays during the fall!
A life-long Central Jerseyan, Mike resides in Somerset County with his lovely wife, Diane (whom he met at WCTC!) and too-cute-for-words daughter Charlotte
