Cardinal McCarrick takes over the top spot in the WCTC Top Ten
Undefeated Cardinal McCarrick -- the only unbeaten team left in Middlesex or Somerset Counties -- has taken over the Number One spot in the WCTC Central Jersey High School Basketball Top Ten.  While the Eagles remained undefeated, previous No. 1 St. Joseph of Metuchen suffered its second loss of the season last week, falling at home to The Hun School of Princeton.  Following are the Week 4 rankings, followed by record and previous rank:  1. Cardinal McCarrick (13-0, 2);  2. St. Joseph-Metuchen (9-2, 1);  3. Rutgers Prep (12-2, 5);  4. Colonia (11-2, 4);  5. Ridge (11-1, 3);  6. South Brunswick (10-3, 7);  7. Montgomery (10-3, NR);  8. Gill St. Bernard's (7-6, 6);  9. Somerville (10-1, NR);  10. East Brunswick (9-3, 8).  Dropped out:  #8 Woodbridge (8-5), #10 Carteret (8-4).

Top four teams hold in the WCTC Week 3 Top Ten
St. Joseph of Metuchen remains Number One in the Week 3 WCTC Central Jersey Basketball Top Ten.  Here are the latest rankings, with teams followed by record and previous rank:  1. St. Joseph-Metuchen (8-1, 1);  2. Cardinal McCarrick (11-0, 2);  3. Ridge (10-0, 3);  4. Colonia (9-2, 4);  5. Rutgers Prep (9-2, 6);  6. Gill St. Bernard's (5-4, 5);  7. South Brunswick (9-3, 9);  8. East Brunswick (8-2, NR);  9. Woodbridge (8-3, NR);  10. Carteret (7-2, NR).  Dropped out:  #7 Monroe (7-3), #8 North Brunswick (5-4); #10 Immaculata (9-3).

St. Joseph-Metuchen takes over No. 1 in the WCTC Top Ten
St. Joseph of Metuchen has taken over the No. 1 spot in the Week 2 WCTC Central Jersey Basketball Top Ten, as Gill St. Bernard's continues to struggle in the absence of its star junior, Tyus Battle, who hasn't played all season as he nurses a foot injury.  The 6-1 Falcons are up one spot, as is 10-0 Cardinal McCarrick, to Number two.  Here's the Week 2 Top Ten, with teams followed by record and previous rank:  1. St. Joseph-Metuchen (6-1, 2);  2. Cardinal McCarrick (10-0, 3);  3. Ridge (7-0, 5);  4. Colonia (6-2, NR);  5. Gill St. Bernard's (5-4, 1);  6. Rutgers Prep (7-2, 6);  7. Monroe (7-1, 4);  8. Gill St. Bernard's tops WCTC's Week One Top Ten
Gill St. Bernards is the Number One team in the initial WCTC Central Jersey High School Basketball Top Ten of the season.  The Knights return all five starters from last year's Somerset County Tournament runner-up, which finished the year 19-9, and featured one of the best players in New Jersey in Tyus Battle, who hails from Edison.  They're followed by St. Joseph of Metuchen, the Tournament of Champions winner of a year ago.  The Falcons, however, graduated four starters:  Wade Baldwin (Vanderbilt), Marques Townes (FDU),  Raven Owen (Canisius) and Karl-Anthony Towns, the national Gatorade Male Basketball Player of the Year who's starring now at Kentucky.  There are five new teams to the inital rankings of 2015, the most since 2011.  They include three undefeated teams in Cardinal McCarrick (third), Monroe (fourth), and Rutgers Prep (sixth).  South Brunswick and Immaculata also were not ranked in the last Top Ten of 2014, but are included this week.  Below is the Week One Top Ten, with current records, and final 2014 ranking:  1. Gill St. Bernard's (4-3, 6);  2. St. Joseph-Metuchen (4-1, 1);  3. Cardinal McCarrick (6-0, NR);  4. Monroe (5-0, NR);  5. Ridge (5-0, 4);  6. Rutgers Prep (5-0, NR);  7. South Brunswick (4-1, NR);  8. Hillsborough (4-1, 6);  9. East Brunswick (4-1, 5);  10. Immaculata (4-2, NR).  Also receiving consideration:  Spotswood (4-1); Bound Brook (3-1); Somerville (3-1).  Teams ranked in last year's final poll that dropped out:  #2 Montgomery (2-3 - last year: 27-2, Skyland Conf. Raritan Division Champs, Central Jersey Group 4 finalist).#7 Sayreville (3-3 - last year: 23-4, GMC White Champs).  #8 Colonia (3-2 - last year: 17-9).  #9 Spotswood (4-1).#10 Bridgewater-Raritan (4-1 - last year: 18-8).
