Ridge is named WCTC's Central Jersey High School Football Team of the Year


     The Ridge Red Devils are the 2013 WCTC Team of the Year.  They finished 12-0 and capped off a perfect season with the North Jersey Section Two, Group 5 title.  Ridge won its third state championship Sunday, beating Union 48-13 at High Point Solutions Stadium in Piscataway, as heard on WCTC.  The Red Devils were the only area team to make it to the sectional finals.
     Meanwhile, Coach of the Year Honors go to St. Joseph of Metuchen's rookie head man Casey Ransone, whose Falcons went undefeated (9-0) in the regular season before bowing out in the first round of the playoffs and finishing 9-1.
     Following is the final WCTC Top Ten of 2013:

1. Ridge (11-0); 
2. Sayreville (8-3); 
3. South Brunswick (7-4); 
4. St. Joseph of Metuchen (9-1); 
5. Piscataway (7-4,); 
6. Old Bridge (7-3); 
7. Carteret (8-3); 
8. Immaculata (6-4); 
9. Monroe (6-4); 
10. South River (8-2). 

Also received votes:  Bernards (10-3), Edison (6-4).
