Sayreville and Carteret are honored as Co-Teams of the Year; South Brunswick's Joe Goerge gets Coach of the Year nod
Both finished undefeated at 12-0, both finished by winning state titles, and both Sayreville and Carteret were honored as WCTC's 2012 Teams of the Year.  It's the first time two teams shared the title since East Brunswick and Monroe both won state titles in 2009.  Sayreville - the #1 team in WCTC's Top Ten most of the year - finished without a loss for the first time since 1949 and won the Central Jersey Group 4 title with a 35-28 victory Saturday over Middletown South.  It was the Bombers' third straight state title.  Carteret - #2 in the most recent WCTC Top Ten - had its first unblemished season since 1992, and won the Central Jersey Group 2 crown Saturday, defeating Weequahic 13-12.     As for Coach of the Year, honors went to South Brunswick's Joe Goerge.  In his first year at the helm, he led the Vikings to a 10-2 mark, and guided the team to its first-ever state title in its first-ever finals appearance, defeating previously-undefeated Manalapan in the Central Jersey Group 5 title tilt 33-22 Saturday night.  Goerge previously won two state titles with Franklin in the mid-1990s.     Here's the final WCTC Top Ten for 2012, with teams followed by final record:  1. Sayreville (12-0);  1. Carteret (12-0);  3. South Brunswick (10-2);  4. Piscataway (8-3);  5. Immaculata (10-2);  6. Old Bridge (8-3);  7. Bernards (9-2);  8. Colonia (9-2);  9. Ridge (7-3);  10.
