With the 2014 season over, WCTC has chosen South Brunswick and Colonia as its Co-Teams of the Year. South Brunswick was No. 1 and Colonia No. 3 in the most recent WCTC Top Ten, released before the playoffs started, but they ended the season in similar fashion. Both made it to the state sectional finals with 11-0 marks before falling in their respective title games. South Brunswick lost to Manalapan 21-7 in the Central Jersey Group 5 title game on December 6th at Rutgers University, while Colonia lost to Phillipsburg 28-21 in overtime after rallying from a 21-6 halftime deficit in the North Jersey, Section 2, Group 4 title game, also at Rutgers.
Coach of the Year honors went to Hillsborough's Kevin Carty, Jr. The Raiders finished 6th in the final WCTC Top Ten, 9-2 on the season, one of their best campaigns in years. They were led by senior QB Eddie Trimpert, who threw for 2,561 yards and 24 TDs. Carty has been highly-regarded as an excellent quarterbacks coach. And the success of Trimpert this season helped win Carty that honor.
